Previously, we showed you where to download Windows 7 and how to burn it to disc, put it on a thumb drive, or boot from it while using your current Windows 7 installation: Download Windows 7 and Burn it to Disc/put it on a Thumb Drive
Having the whole operating system on disc isn’t necessary if you just need to repair your Windows installation. You should have a repair disc on hand to deal with the following situations:
- You’ve made a change to your PC and it now won’t boot into Windows.
- You get a message such as NTLDR is

The new Twitter app (left) is a tidied-up redo of the old Tweetie (right)
The opening of the Mac app store last week occasioned the release of a long-awaited official Twitter desktop client for the Mac. It’s actually an upgrade to Tweetie, an early and winningly spare desktop client that so enamored Twitter, the short-message service bought the company.
When it was first released two years ago as “Tweetie,” such things were called “software.” The desktop client is now an “app” called “Twitter.” Unfortunately, these changes in name and delivery method telegraph the lack of any real innovation. While “Twitter” … [Read More...]

A slightly imperfect mega music machine
It wasn’t long ago that we turned our critical eye on another recently released Grace Digital Internet radio, the diminutive Solo Wi-Fi Receiver. Although we liked it in a general sense, we found its connectivity somewhat limiting and its controls challenging. We also weren’t sure what it wanted to be: It looked like a bedside radio, but it but needed external amplification and speakers to produce sound.
This time ‘round, we look at the substantially more sophisticated, substantially more focused Grace Tuner Wireless Radio and Media Player (Grace’s model number GDI-IRDT200, which sells for … [Read More...]
Wow, what a great keyboard!
Hat’s off to Logitech: They really know how to design a keyboard. Our opinion of the rest of the Revue—Logitch’s first Google TV product—isn’t nearly as lofty. The Revue’s utility in no way justifies its $300 price tag. And while Dish Network customers can buy the device at the subsidized price of $180, they’ll forever pay a $4 per month “DVR integration fee” to get full use of it.
The Revue is based on Google’s Google TV concept and is designed to let you search for and enjoy all types of media, be it on … [Read More...]

A decade ago, it was much easier to figure out how to get your TV connected to your devices, especially since most people only had a VCR. Our screens were smaller, the quality was worse, but the world was simpler. Today you can hardly walk in an electronics store without getting pressured to buy a several hundred dollar HDMI cable just … [Read More...]
Remember the days when scanning a document required a big, ugly, space wasting device connected to your computer? Today we take a look at a free app that will turn our iPhone or iPod Touch (with camera) into a convenient document scanner.
Even if you have a modern scanner connected to your PC, it can be a cumbersome process to scan a document. You have to be at its location at home or work, and then scan each document. Even some of the portable scanners that you hook up to your laptop can be a bit to much when traveling. … [Read More...]
Not too long ago we encountered some problem with our users that share PC’s in different locations on our network. Some users do not always log-off their PC’s when they have to go into the plant. Now from where they are on the network, they remote desktop into another workstation for a particular system developed in-house.
Now if a user does not log-off, this remote desktop connection stays logged-in and makes it so no-one else can use that PC. Therefore, I was tasked with finding a way to log a user off if there is no activity for a certain … [Read More...]

I know, there are tons of sites and applications trying to make a living out of fixing your Windows Problems. The reason for this is mainly because Microsoft’s Solutions Center has always been so high-tech, and not very user-friendly.
Finding solutions to common Windows problems using the Microsoft Website has always been a daunting task. Making you read through tons of more or less useless Tech Information that the common user cannot make any sense of.
